 You don’t have to look far if you’re looking for free things to do this weekend in St. Louis.
Here’s a sampling:

Griffin and the Gargoyles plays a variety of styles. Slam is a dance band that features rock, Motown, funk, disco and swing.
You won’t have to look far. The list is almost endless–and most of them are free. Here’s a sampling:
You’ll find a ton of quality events happening right here in the Lou—and most of them are free for taking or cheap thrills that will cost you only a few bucks. From a trip to Greece via the St. Nicholas Greek Festival to a celebration of International Vulture Awareness Day at the World Bird Sanctuary to a festival in Forest Park honoring our troops and veterans, you’ll find it a challenge to fit everything you’d like to do into just one weekend—even if it’s a three-day one. Griffin and the Gargoyles plays a variety of styles. Concoction is dance oriented, playing songs from the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s. Griffin and the Gargoyles will play at Sept. 20 Party on the Plaza. Slam will be perform that night.
The two bands are highly versatile, playing a variety of music. Griffin and the Gargoyles will play a parties in the plaza on Aug. 16 and Sept. 20. In August, Concoction also will perform. Slam will perform on Sept. 20.
Jazz musician Charlie B will perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the Westport Plaza Village off of Westport Plaza Drive in Maryland Heights. Westport Plaza is north of Page Avenue and east of Interstate 270.
The Sky West musicians will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Westport Plaza. Westport Plaza is off of Westport Plaza Drive north of Page Avenue and east of Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights.
 Scott Laytham and Karl Holmes Musicians Scott Laytham and Karl Holmes will perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at the Westport Plaza Village off of Westport Plaza Drive in Maryland Heights. Westport Plaza is north of Page Avenue and east of Interstate 270.
The Brad Carlson Duo jazz musicians will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Westport Plaza. Westport Plaza is off of Westport Plaza Drive north of Page Avenue and east of Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights. Sky West will play at the next Thursday concert in the Westport Plaza Blues & Jazz Concert Series. |
