Free: Battle Of Fort San Carlos Lecture On Sunday 5/29/11

Meredith Hawkins, principal investigator for the Archaeological Research Center of St. Louis, presents a lecture on French and Spanish colonialism in St. Louis prior to 1780 as the Battle of Fort San Carlos Commemoration at 2 p.m. Sunday 5/29/11 in the Lee Auditorium of the Missouri History Museum. The lecture is free and open to the public.
The Battle of Fort San Carlos, also known as the battle of St. Louis, is considered to be the only battle of the Revolutionary War fought west of the Mississippi.

Hawkins’ lecture is being planned by the Commemoration Committee For the Battle of Fort San Carlos at St. Louis 1780. For more information on the organization, click here.

The organization has created a medal to commemorate the event.
