The Third Degree Glass Factory gets in a holiday way this month at its Third Friday Open House Party 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths will be bringing jewelry to the party with 32 outstanding metal artists showing and selling their “wears.” The jewelry ranges from high-karat gold, gemstones, and sterling silver to glass, enamel, beads, copper and brass creations.
See glassblowers demonstrate their craft using ancient techniques, turning molten glowing glass into gorgeous art.
“Tapas-style small plates at small prices” from My Chef Heidi will be available for purchase.
Party-goers can get hands-on glass experience working with instructors. They can make a paperweight for $35, a fused glass pendant or earrings for $25 or the set for $35, a holiday tile for $25 or glass beads for $35. The age minimum is 10 and up to make paperweights and glass beads.
Bring a regular-sized wine bottle minus the label and Third Degree artists will turn it into a glass platter for $15. Over-sized wine bottles are $25.
Glass projects and glass platters must be picked up the following week, Tues. – Sat., 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Singer/songwriter Ken Domash performs at 8 p.m.
Fire Technicians will do fire spinning in the Courtyard.
A new exhibit “Travel Souvenirs: Watercolors by Muriel Eulich” opens that night.
