Celebrate Forest Park Forever's 25th Anniversary With Free Ice Cream Tomorrow

St. Louis’ Forest Park Forever celebrates its 25th anniversary with a series of events this weekend.

From 1:30 to 3:30 on Saturday you can enjoy free ice cream at the North Star Ice Cream Social featuring live music by the Greers Bluegrass Band, Satin of the Motown Review and saxophonist Rod Tate.

The free event happens at the Dennis and Judith Jones Visitors Center in Forest Park featuring:

  • Facepainting
  • Balloon Artists
  • “Rampage” of the St. Louis Rams
  • “Louie” of the St. Louis Blues

On Sunday the fun continues with the I <heart> Forest Park 5K run, walk and half mile youth fun run at 7:30 a.m. in the Upper Muny Parking Lot. There is an entry fee.  It’s free to watch.

Free: Guided Tours In Forest Park Through July 30

Now through July 30 you can enjoy a relaxing and informative walk through Forest Park. All tours are an hour long, cover about a mile and a half and are led by Forest Park Forever volunteers and staff. Leashed pets are allowed. Reservations are not required.

Walkers should meet in the lobby of the Dennis and Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center, 5595 Grand Drive five minutes before the tour start time.  Pooches meet on the porch.

The walks cover various topics:

Forest Park: Then & Now

Learn about the park’s past, present and future. Tours at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Naturalist Tours

Explore the park’s flora and fauna in the savannas, prairies and wetlands as you learn about the park’s “wild side.” Tours at 10 a.m. Monday (no tours on May 30 and July 4).

Horticulture Tours

Explore the park’s annual, perennials and grand landscapes while learning about the park’s “botanicals.” Tours at 10 a.m. Friday.
