St. Louis Area Black Friday Openings and Offers

Black Friday is quickly morphing into Gray Thursday, as Sears and Walmart announced earlier-than-ever store openings this year.

Whether you’re boycotting Turkey Day openings or planning to digest dinner in line, here’s the lowdown on opening hours and special offers for 14 major St. Louis area stores, thanks to the folks at CouponSherpa who did much of the research for this list.

  1. Bass Pro Shops – 5 a.m. Friday. Score the best deals between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m.
  2. Best Buy – Midnight Friday. Doorbuster tickets will be handed out two hours before Best Buy’s midnight opening.
  3. Dick’s Sporting Goods – Midnight Thanksgiving. Doorbuster deals from midnight to 2 p.m on Nov. 23.
  4. JC Penney – 6 a.m. Friday. Customers receive a button with a special code that qualifies them to win prizes, trips and other gifts when they enter online.
  5. Kmart – 6 a.m. Thanksgiving. Kmart will be open until 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving, but will open again at 8 p.m. and stay open through 3 a.m. on Black Friday. Another two-hour closure follows, with doors opening again at 5 a.m. on Friday.
  6. Kohl’s – Midnight Friday. Shoppers receive $15 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent during the holiday weekend.
  7. Lowe’s – 5 a.m. Friday. Doorbusters include tools and holiday decor, but most deals will be available online starting at midnight on Thanksgiving.
  8. Macy’s – Midnight Friday.
  9. Radio Shack – 6 a.m. Friday. Get $10 in coupons for every $50 spent.
  10. Sears – 8 p.m. Thanksgiving. Sears will have two doorbuster events, the first when doors open and the second at 4 a.m. on Black Friday.
  11. Sports Authority – Midnight Thanksgiving. First 80 people in the store are eligible to win up to $500 worth of bonus bucks. Bonus bucks can be spent on anything in the store, but only on Black Friday.
  12. Target – 9 p.m. Thanksgiving. Get a $10 gift card when you spend $50 or more on select items between 4 a.m. and noon on Black Friday.
  13. Toys ‘R Us – 8 p.m. Thanksgiving. The first 200 shoppers get a stocking stuffer-laden goody bag valued at around $30.
  14. Walmart – 8 p.m. Thanksgiving. Walmart’s second doorbuster event includes a “1-Hour Stock Guarantee” where shoppers can purchase a card in lieu of an out-of-stock doorbuster for delivery by Christmas.

There’s plenty to do at the Wonderland with free photos with Santa, free games, activities and crafts as well as free Santa Bandz–a different one each week.

Through Sunday, Dec. 11, kids can make a snowman ornament. From Monday, Dec. 12-Sunday, Dec. 18 they can make a jingle bell snowman.

Free Santa Bandz (a new one each week) go to the first 150 kids who visit Santa’s Wonderland from 5-7 p.m. on Monday-Friday through Dec. 24.

It’s November, the time of the year when many cities are winding down for the year.

Santa’s getting an early start this year with a preview night of Santa’s Wonderland Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Bass Pro Shop in St. Charles.

Get an early look at Santa’s Wonderland from 5-8 p.m., Saturday.  After that, Santa’s Wonderland will be open from Nov. 6-Dec. 24 with special hours during Thanksgiving weekend.

There’s plenty to do at the Wonderland with free photos with Santa, free games, activities and crafts as well as free Santa Bandz–a different one each week.

This weekend kids can make an animal sun catcher on Sunday and a popsicle stick Santa Nov. 7-13.
