Free: St. Louis Osuwa Taiko To Perform At Francis Park On Sunday, July 15

St. Louis Osuwa Taiko will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Francis Park, St. Louis, Eichelberger Street and Donovan Avenue.

The group plays drums in the Japanese taiko style. The drumming is a part of the Japanese culture that goes back more than 1,400 years. It is associated with religious ceremonies, festivities and other occasions in ancient and modern Japan.

The program is the third of six concerts the Compton Heights Concert Band sponsors 7:30 p.m. Sundays in the park. Other concerts highlight the Singing Boys of Pennsylvania and the Keystone Girls Choir, July 22; The Sins of the Pioneers, July 29, and Red Lehr and the St. Louis Rivermen, Aug. 5.
