The Gateway Festival Orchestra will feature a variety of classical music in the second of its four Sunday concerts in July at Washington University. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. July 8, 2012, in the Brookings Quadrangle.
The concert includes works by von Weber, Faure, Mussorgsky, Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky.
PowerPlay will perform at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, on the south side of Heman Park, Midland Boulevard and Vernon Avenue, University City.
The band plays disco, jazz, Motown and rhythm and blues classics.
The concert is part of a series at the park that includes Mystic Voyage, July 16; Fat Pocket Funk, July 23; Retro Boogie, July 30 and Par 3, Aug. 6.
Ironweed Bluegrass Band
The Ironweed Bluegrass Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012 in Francis Park, St. Louis, Eichelberger Street and Donovan Avenue.
The program is the second of six concerts the Compton Heights Concert Band sponsors 7:30 p.m. Sundays in the park. Other concerts highlight St. Louis Osuwa Taiko, July 15; the Singing Boys of Pennsylvania and the Keystone Girls Choir, July 22; the Sins of the Pioneers, July 29, and Red Lehr and the St. Louis Rivermen, Aug. 5.
St. Louis Ragtimers
The St. Louis Ragtimers will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 8, in Carondelet Park, Interstate 55 and Loughborough Avenue, St. Louis.
The event is part of a concert series that the Carondelet Community Betterment Federation sponsors. Other concerts are:

Maple Jam Band
The Maple Jam Band, which features acoustic rock and blues, will perform on 7 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Lion’s Amphitheater in Kirkwood Park, Kirkwood. The park is at Geyer Road and West Adams Avenue, Kirkwood.
The event is part of the Making Music Concert Series. Other performers at Kirkwood Park will be the Meramec Jazz Band on Aug. 11 and the St. Louis Wind Collaboration on Aug. 25. The series also includes a concert by Chuck Wagon DeLuxe at the Kirkwood Farmers’ Market Greenway on July 21.
