Check Out Missouri Beaches This Weekend

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is inviting you to escape the heat at  Missouri beaches this weekend. There are some 17 swimming beaches in Missouri State Parks sprinkled around the state.

Officials say weekly water samples show that all state parks beaches met their weekly water quality standards.

From Watkins Mill State Park near Kansas City to Finger Lakes State Park in the middle of the state to Lake Wappapello State Park in the southeast area to many places in between, Missouri State Parks provide refreshing aquatic opportunities that are a convenient drive for most Missourians.

The beach at Lewis and Clark State Park in Buchanan County remains closed for continuing repairs related to last year’s flooding. The beach at Trail of Tears State Park in Cape Girardeau County is closed as crews complete work on the lake’s dam.

Missouri State Parks visitors can sign up to receive free electronic notices about the status of state park beaches or at the Parks’ website.

Missouri’s 86 state parks and historic sites offer all kinds of experiences–outdoor adventure, great scenery and a bit of history. State parks are a great place to have cheap fun.
