American Arts Experience St. Louis Starts Friday

American Arts Experience St. Louis, a 17-day festival showcasing St. Louis’ rich and diverse artistic community runs for 17 days and nights beginning Friday, Sept. 30, 2011. Works in all mediums will be featured.

The Arts Experience will happen through more than 40 participating organizations.

The last event is slated for Sunday, Oct. 16. Many of the events are free.

Free: Docent-Led Tours of Laumeier Sculpture Park

Meet in front of the Museum Shop at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2 for a free, one-hour guided tour of Laumeier’s outdoor collection.  Laumeier County Park is at 12580 Rott Road in Sunset Hills.

While you’re at the park, check out “Dog Days of Summer,” an exhibition that explores the relationship between man and his “best friend.” The work of 10 artists spanning nearly three centuries is featured. Highlight of the exhibit is a dog trail by Finnish artist Tea Mäkipää. It’s a multisensory experience for both canine and human visitors along Laumeier’s Nature Trail. The exhibit ends Sunday.

Amazing History Scavenger Hunt At Jefferson Barracks

Here’s a chance to discover some of the Jefferson Barracks County Park‘s hidden treasures. The hunt is designed for people 18 years and older and is slated for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.

Free: Yappy Hour At Laumeier Sculpture Park

Bring your pooch to “Yappy Hour” at Laumeier County Park from 5-8 p.m. today for an evening of fun.

You can purchase dinner and refreshments from vendors and enjoy a variety of activities, demonstrations and competitions for you and your canine buddy.

You both can enjoy a dog trail by Finnish artist Tea Mäkipää that’s a multisensory experience for both canine and human visitors along Laumeier’s Nature Trail.  Pet sitters will be on hand so you can enjoy “Dog Days of Summer,” an indoor exhibit.
