 Hudson and the HooDoo Cats
Hudson and the HooDoo Cats will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Ryan Hummert Memorial Park at Sutton Boulevard and Lyndover Place, Maplewood.
The band is a a JitterbugaBilly band that focuses on swingin’ shufflin’ blues, ’50′s rock and roll, rockabilly and medium tempo dance music such as West Coast, Lindy Hop and Imperial.
The Maplewood Community Betterment Foundation will sell refreshments at the concert.

This weekend you can participate in The Missouri Black Expo, the largest African American Empowerment event in Missouri where hundreds of local and regional African-American entrepreneurs showcase their businesses.
The Missouri Black Expo is billed as “A 20 Year Celebration of Hope.”
In addition to exhibits by area agencies and major corporations, artists and musicians will perform.
Performers include Johnny Gill, Kurtis Blow, Shawn McLemore, Earnest Pugh and Huey as well as the MBE Gospel Choir Explosion featuring Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
The MBE Literary Corner will feature Literary Corner featuring Toya Carter, Tanya Wright, Deborah Gregory, Farrah Gray, Tony Johnson, Keli Goff and Patrick Shaffer.
Free health screenings will be available.
Admission is $6. Children six and under are free.
The event is at America’s Center in downtown St. Louis from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. today and 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Sunday.
From 4-10 p.m. during August kids eat free at IHOP with the purchase on an adult entree.
Kids must order from the “Just For Kids” menu. The deal is for dine-in only. No coupon is required.
There are 15 IHOP locations in the St. Louis area.
IHOP has joined Kids LiveWell in the restaurant industry’s efforts to provide more healthful menu choices for children and families. According to a news release: Kids LiveWell is a new, nationwide initiative created by the National Restaurant Association in collaboration with HealthyDiningFinder.com to provide parents and children with a growing selection of healthful menu options when dining out.

Sappington Farmer’s Market is having an August Sampling Sale with free samples and prizes.
The store also has a coupon for $7 off a purchase of $30 or more. There’s a limit of one coupon per family per visit and it cannot be used with any other coupon or offer. The coupon excludes fresh milk, gift certificates, liquor and all case goods.
The sampling event is from noon to 5 p.m. The coupon is good all day.
