While you’re out and about this weekend, don’t forget to get some photos of the Gateway Arch (AKA the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial) or its surrounding area so you can enter the “View From The Park,” a photo contest sponsored by the Jefferson National Parks Association.
Entries can be of the inside or exterior of the Arch or of anything else within the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial boundary. The park boundary includes the Arch grounds, Luther Ely Smith Plaza and the Old Courthouse.
You have until 11:59 p.m., July 31, 2011 to enter. Entries must be submitted in digital JPEG format. Each file must be no larger than 140 ppi and no larger than 1400 pixels wide and 1050 pixels tall.
Winners will be announced on August 15 and the winning images will be displayed at the Arch from Aug. 15-Sept. 15, 2011.
The contest has two categories–one for adult photographers, both amateur and professional, and one for youth ages 15 and under.
Within those categories there are competitions in three themes: nature, landscape and architecture.
Prizes in the adult division are:
1st Place: Kodak EasyShare digital photo frame, a large canvas print of winning image and four tickets to the top of the Arch
2nd Place: $75 gift certificate for photo processing or equipment
3rd Place: The Gateway Arch: An Architectural Dream, a documentary coffee-table book
