Soulard Mardi Gras/U. S. Cellular Family Winter Carnival

Get ready for Mardi Gras at the Soulard Mardi Gras – U.S. Cellular Family Winter Carnival on Saturday.  There will be plenty of arts and crafts activities like make-your-own Mardi Gras costumes and masks. Also enjoy family-friendly performances on the main stage and at the Laclede Gas Gashouse Gang Corner Art Wall.

The U.S. Cellular Children’s parade takes place at 4 p.m. where children can wear the masks and costumes they made in a parade through Soulard. The parade begins at 9th and Lafayette and goes south to Soulard Street, then turns east to 8th and then north again ending in front of Soulard Market at 8th and Lafayette.

Hurry to register for women's heart event

The St. Charles SSM Health Care “Her Heart” event this Friday  is full but there’s still time to register for the February 19 event in Sunset Hills.

You may not know it but heart disease is the number one  killer of women in this country. You can learn more about it and how to safeguard your heart at the “Her Heart: Every Beat Counts” free informational event. Speakers include physicians and  Ellen Abramson, a 53-year-old heart attack survivor.

The event includes complimentary breakfast and lunch and healthy heart screenings but there is a $5 charge for total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and blood glucose. Fasting is not required but registration for the screenings is.
